✚ How to create a customer from Airtable with SyncBase?

Good news — you can create new Shopify customers directly from Airtable using SyncBase, without going through the Shopify admin.

⚠️ This feature is currently in beta. Access isn't automatic — reach out via the in-app live chat and we'll add you to the waiting list, then let you know as soon as it's ready for you.

How customer creation works

Shopify requires a full set of customer details to create a customer record.
If any of these values are missing when the record is created, Shopify will reject the request.

⚠️ This means you cannot click "+", create a blank record and fill it later. The required fields must be filled at the moment the record is created.

Step-by-step: Create a new customer

1. Create a new record in the Customers table

You must create the record with all required fields already filled.

You can create this properly using:

  • Airtable Forms
  • Airtable Automations
  • Airtable Scripts
  • Custom Interfaces

Required fields:

  • Customer First Name
  • Customer Last Name
  • Customer Email
  • Customer Phone
  • Default Address 1
  • Default Address 2
  • Default Address ZIP
  • Default Address City
  • Default Address Country

2. Wait a few seconds

SyncBase sends the request to Shopify automatically.

If everything is correct:

  • A Customer ID will appear in your new record, returned directly by Shopify
  • The column "Created At" will be updated
  • Your new customer will now exist in your Shopify store

Do not fill Customer ID. This value is automatically generated by Shopify and returned to Airtable — it cannot be set manually.

3. (optional) Confirm in Shopify

Open the Customers section in your Shopify admin.
Your new customer should now be visible.

Sync behavior

Customer creation and updates are processed in real time. As soon as a record is added or updated in the Customers table in Airtable, SyncBase sends the change to Shopify.

Beta limitations

Because this feature is still in beta:

  • Access isn't automatic — reach out via the in-app live chat to join the waiting list, and we'll tell you when it's ready for you.
  • Some advanced customer fields or edge cases may not be supported yet.
