✚ How to create a new product from Airtable with SyncBase?
Creating a new Shopify product directly from Airtable is simple with SyncBase.
Whether you want to create one product manually or push multiple products at once, you have two flexible methods.
In this guide, you’ll learn both approaches and the best practices to ensure your product is created successfully in Shopify.
Before you start
Make sure that:
- SyncBase is installed on your Shopify store
- You have generated your Airtable synced base via the app
Once your synced base is ready, you can create products directly from the Products table.
Method 1: Create a blank product
Steps
- Go to your synced Airtable base.
- Open the
Productstable. - Add a new record (just create a new row).
- Wait a few seconds.
SyncBase sends the creation request to Shopify.
Once the Product ID field is automatically filled in, your product has been successfully created in Shopify.
You can now edit any field (Title, Description, Status, etc.) directly from Airtable — changes will sync in real time.

Method 2: Create a product with data (Forms, Automations, Scripts)
This method is perfect if you want to create multiple products at once or automate your workflow.
Instead of creating a blank record first, you create a new record with data already filled in.
Important rules
- ❌ Do not fill in the Product ID field
- ✅ Let Shopify generate it automatically
- ⏳ Wait a few seconds for SyncBase to return the Product ID and Handle
Once the Product ID appears, the product is live in Shopify.
How to do it
You must create the record from:
- An Airtable Form
- An Airtable Automation
- An Airtable Script
- Or another table connected to the
Productstable
For example:
- You can have a “Products in creation” table.
- Once a product is ready, an automation creates a new record in the
Productstable. - SyncBase pushes it instantly to Shopify.
Fields you can fill immediately
You can pre-fill:
- Product Title
- Description
- Vendor
- Status
- Product Type
- Tags
- Category
- SEO Meta Title
- SEO Meta Description
If you don’t set the Handle, Shopify will generate it automatically.
Duplicate handles
Shopify does not allow duplicate handles.
If you manually set a handle that already exists, Shopify will reject the product creation.
If you’re unsure, simply leave the Handle empty and let Shopify generate it.
What happens after creation?
Here’s what SyncBase automatically does:
- Products are created in DRAFT status by default
- You can change the status to ACTIVE directly from Airtable
- A default Variant (named “Variant”) is automatically created in the
Variantstable - If metafields sync is enabled: Linked records appear in the
Product Metafieldstable & Linked records appear in theVariant Metafieldstable.
Everything stays synchronized in real time.
Real-time sync confirmation
How do you know the product is successfully created?
When the Product ID field is filled in your Airtable record, Shopify has confirmed the creation.
From that moment on:
- Any change in Airtable updates Shopify
- Any change in Shopify updates Airtable
