🔄 Can I change the ownership or workspace of my Airtable-synced base?
Short answer: not by yourself — but we can help you do it safely.
This question usually comes from freelancers or agencies who set up the system first, then want to transfer it to a client or internal team. While this makes sense from an operational point of view, changing the ownership or workspace of a synced base has technical implications.
Here’s what you need to know.
Why you can’t change it on your own
When you first connect SyncBase to Airtable, the connection relies on two fixed elements:
- Your Airtable account, through a Personal Access Token
- A specific Airtable workspace, selected during setup
These credentials are tightly linked to the synced base.
What happens if you change ownership or workspace by yourself
If you manually:
- Change the base ownership, or
- Move the base to another workspace
➡️ The Airtable token used by SyncBase will lose access, and the sync will break (no more updates between Shopify and Airtable).
This is a limitation of how Airtable authentication works, not a SyncBase restriction.
How to do it properly (the safe way)
If you need to switch the ownership and/or workspace of an Airtable-synced base:
- Contact us via the live chat

- Our team will help you migrate everything without breaking the sync
This ensures continuity for your client or team, with no data loss or downtime.
When this is typically needed
- You’re a freelancer handing over a project to a client
- You’re an agency delivering a finalized setup
- Your company is reorganizing Airtable workspaces or ownership
In all cases, the process is the same: don’t change it alone, reach out to us 👍
