# 🚀 Set up an Airtable-synced base with Shopify in 5 minutes

|| Before you start: make sure the [SyncBase App](https://apps.shopify.com/instant-import-export) is installed on your Shopify store and connected to your Airtable account.

SyncBase lets you create a fully customized Airtable base connected to your Shopify store in just a few minutes. This setup gives you full control over what data is synced and how it flows between Shopify and Airtable. Most settings can be adjusted later, even after your base is live.

# 1 - Select the "Custom Airtable-synced Base" option

Once your Shopify store is connected to Airtable through the app, you’ll be asked to choose a setup mode.
Click on `Start base customization` button to start creating a personalized sync configuration.

# 2 - Customize your synced-base

| With the exception of the base selection itself, all settings can be changed later, even after the onboarding is complete.

### Select your base

__You can choose between__:

* **A new Airtable base** (recommended for a clean setup), or
* **An existing Airtable base** (SyncBase will automatically create the required tables and fields).

### Choose your sync direction

__Define how data should flow__:

* **2-way sync** (Shopify ↔ Airtable)
* **Airtable → Shopify only**
* **Shopify → Airtable only**

### Pick the data to sync

Select the Shopify data you want to include in your Airtable base (products, orders, customers, etc.).

### (Optional) Select your data history

If you choose to sync **Orders** and/or **Customers**, you can define how far back the historical data should go.
By default, SyncBase imports data from the **last 3 months**, but you can adjust this if needed.

# 3 - Launch your base generation

When everything is configured, click on the `Custom Airtable-synced Base` button to start the generation.

Base creation may take a few minutes if your store contains a large amount of data.
During this time, **do not modify your Airtable base structure or permissions**. You’ll receive an email as soon as the base generation is successfully completed.

| For best results, wait for the confirmation email before making any changes in Airtable or Shopify.
