# 🔗 How to connect Airtable to Shopify with SyncBase

In this guide, you’ll learn how to connect your Airtable account to SyncBase.
This is the very first step before generating a synced base or connecting an existing one.

Once connected, you’ll be able to sync your Shopify data (Products, Orders, Metaobjects, etc.), update data from Airtable, and even create new Shopify objects directly from Airtable.
At the beginning of this article, you’ll find a full 1-minute video walkthrough. You’ll also find two short videos dedicated to the Workspace ID and Personal Token steps.

# Step 1 – Open SyncBase from your Shopify admin

Go to your **Shopify admin** and open the **SyncBase app**.

| If you don't install the app yet, [you can do it here](https://apps.shopify.com/instant-import-export). There is a 10-days free trial.

__In the main screen of the app, you’ll see two required fields__:

* Airtable Workspace ID
* Airtable Personal Token

|| Important: We connect your Airtable account, not just a single base. The Airtable-synced base will be generated later.

# Step 2 – Find and enter your Airtable Workspace ID

You need to select the Airtable workspace where your synced base will be created.

### How to find your Workspace ID

1. Go to your **Airtable account**. (If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to create one first.)
2. On the left sidebar, expand the **Workspace section** if it’s collapsed.
3. Click on the workspace you want to use.
4. Look at the URL in your browser.
5. Copy the part that starts with **`wsp...`** and stops **right before the question mark (?)**.
👉 Example: `https://airtable.com/wspXXXXXXXXXXXX?some_parameters` You must copy only: `wspXXXXXXXXXXXX`

||| Do not copy the ? or anything after it.

6. Paste this Workspace ID into the SyncBase app.

# Step 3 – Generate and enter your Airtable Personal Token

Now you need to create an Airtable Personal Access Token.
### How to generate your token

1. In Airtable, click your **profile icon (top right)**.
2. Go to the **Builder hub**.
3. In the left menu, open the **Developer** section.
4. Click on **Personal access tokens** or access [all tokens here](https://airtable.com/create/tokens)
5. Click **Create new token**.

Then:
1. Name it (we recommend: `SyncBase`)
2. Select **all scopes** (very important)
3. Click **Add all resources**
4. Create the token

||| ⚠️ You must select all scopes. If some scopes are missing, the connection will not work properly.

__Once created__:

1. Copy the token
2. Paste it into the SyncBase app
3. Click **Done** in Airtable

# Step 4 – Click “Connect”

__Once both fields are filled__:

* Workspace ID
* Personal Token

Click the **“Connect”** button.

That’s it! 🎉 Your Airtable account is now connected to SyncBase.

# Temporary connection test base

During the connection process, SyncBase creates a temporary base named:** "Temporary Airtable Connection Test"**
This base is only used to verify that your credentials are correct.

| You can safely delete it. It is not your final synced base.

# Important: Do not modify your credentials

__After connecting, please avoid__:

* Deleting your Airtable Personal Token
* Changing its scopes or access
* Moving your synced base to another workspace
* Changing workspace ownership

These actions can break the synchronization.

__If you need to__:

* Change workspace
* Transfer ownership
* Update your setup

👉 Contact us via the live chat first. We’ll guide you safely through the process.

# Common mistakes if you get an error

__If you see an error while connecting, it is usually caused by one of these issues__:

1. **Using a Base ID instead of a Workspace ID**
👉 Make sure you copy a Workspace ID (starting with `wsp...`), not a Base ID (starting with `app...`).

2. **Not selecting all scopes AND all resources when creating the token**
__👉 You must__:

* Select every scope
* Click “Add all resources” (Granting access to only one workspace will not work.)

3. **Keeping the “?” at the end of the Workspace ID**
👉 Only copy the ID up to the question mark. Everything after `?` must be removed.

If everything looks correct and you still face an issue, contact us via the in-app live chat and we’ll help you quickly.
